The Hunger Games
This film is based on Suzanne Collins’ novel, published
in 2009 and set in North America having a box office success. Actually, that
film (plus all the saga) received a lot of nominations, including the Oscars’ awards, winning some of them. The
main actress is Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss and Josh Hutcherson playing Peeta.
Some years after the dissapearance of the EEUU
(as we know them today), there is a new state called Panem plus other 12
distrits. Every year one girl and one boy, whose ages range from 12 to 18, are
elected by each distrit. The 24 travel to Panem where they have to fight to death
whereas all the population watch their struggle live on T.V. Only one of the 24
can survive.
Broadly speaking, the characters are well
developed. Jennifer Lawrence is pretty strong and believable. Josh Hutcherson
has to be weak and dull sometimes for the story, although he is likeable. Not
only is the acting natural but it is also powerful sometimes. The plot is thrilling
and completely absorbing. Moreover, the
script is quite compelling, well-written and pretty imaginative. Futhermore, the
relationship between all the elected and the reactions of the inhabitants of
Panem is extremely thought- provoking. The special effects are staggering. The
photography is absolutely incredible.
To sum up and from my point of view, it is a
really good an memorable film. The type of film is not only for the youth and it
is well worth seeing. I would throroughtly recommend it without any doubt.
