Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to express my annoyance anger at your last newspaper´s article on Wednesday, the 2nd of December which was focused in grumbling about students.

Firstly, I have to say that the Spanish students are not as you have published. Broadly speaking, it is said that specific students like teenagers are like the article says. I mean, not only do people think that teenagers students are, in general, lazy and they have low education levels, but also people think students have no respect and bad behaviour. However, that impression is sometimes the fault of articles like yours, which make-up the reality depending on the imprint they have to inculcate inside our brains.

Secondly, as a result of a large career on the Educational System (I am a teacher in a public school), I would like to underscore the importance of a huge amount of our better students have had to go abroad in order to work in something or orther. Believe me, lazy people do not go abroad if it is not for holidays. Moreover, have you taken into account there is an enormous amount of students learning other languages, skills (like music or theatre), or even other university degrees so as to achieve a great job? So, it is motivation and necessity that students have due to the fact that they know companies demand ever-increasing degrees and qualifications. Furthermore, if only you had thought about that, you would understand a good education is the principal element to have that motivation. How could you say those students contributed nothing to society?

To conclude, I found your article to be extremely subjective. I look forward to reading more objective reporting in future issues.

Yours faithfully,

Esther Diaz

Yuzuru´s Record

This weekend there aren´t any important competition of Figure Ice- Skater. However, the last weekend of November was the NHK Trophy, celebrated in Japan. That was the last Grand Prix´s competitions. On the NHK took part Yuzuru Hanyu, Japanese, who was the champion on the World Championships in 2014 plus the recent champion on the Olympics Championships in 2014 too.

Yuzuru, of course, is an amazing, stuning, and stagerring ice- skater. In fact, his depurated technique, his elegance and his nicety are recognized all over the world even for their colleagues. In this NHK competition, he broke all the records until that date: in short and free programs plus the overall mark.
What I want to say is that nobody had achieved to the 100 mark in free program, although there are a lot of 90 points and more. Yuzu achieved 106. Furthermore, on the free programm pass exactly the same than in the short program. Everyone hadn´t achieved 200 points. One more time, Yuzu got 216 points. That´s completey outstanding, out of the blue! And something historic, of course.

Before to put the Yuzuru´s linkers, I would like you watch another one. That´s about Patrick Chan, who had the record before Yuzu. Fantastic too, marvellous. Therefore, Yuzu in his free program is absolutely uplifting.

Here is the linkers:

First one, Patrick
Second one, Yuzu´s short program
Finally, the espectacular and moving Yuzuru´s Free program

As a gossip, I have to say the coach of Yuzu is the same than our javier Fernandez.

Essay about Frienship

Is friendship important? In fact, it is friendship one of the most important parts in our lives. All of us know that, although we cannot clearly explain why friendship is pretty necessary. Furthermore, the answer depends on the kind of person we are.

First of all, friendship is necessary to share experiences. Broadly speaking, if we have people who share any kind of experiences, hobbies and stuff like that, we will be happier people. As a result, we would never feel alone anytime. This would mean we would always have company to travel to wherever and to stroll by the different cities, to go for a shopping spree, to book on a cosy restaurant, to celebrate an special occasion with our bunch of friends and so on. What is more, seldom does a friend say "no", because he or she is prepared to, as people say, paint the town red. So, everything could be outstanding, entirely stirring and riveting. Moreover, many of those moments could be momentous and out of the blue.

Secondly, friendship could contribute to advice and support. Think of that: if we are sad or happy or angry or whatever, who will we speak to about our mood? Sometimes we could answer "our family". Therefore, many times we would answer "our friends". And that is the truth. Who support us when we have a row with our partner, problems in our jobs, quarrels with our family members or even between friends? As everybody knows, all of us need a shoulder to cry on once in a while.

To sum up and taking all of this into account, I am going to give my point of view. Friendship is something vital in our life. It makes us have a meaningful, absolutely uplifting and staggering life. The two points before mentioned are completely essential and I cannot opt for one of the two them. Additionally, we are who we are due to our friends.

Javier Fernández achieves his work visa in Canadá

Yes! At least he has it!. After a few years Javier Fernández has obtained a work visa which not only does he allow to work and drive there in Canadá, but it also allows him not to go out each 3 months. This visa is requested for every single ice skaters who are training there. However, it is always refused by the Ice Federation, even knowing the dramatic situation the ice skaters are living there regarding to that. What I want to say is Spanish figure ice-skaters cannot live for their achievements. Their Federation barely gives them a minimunt amount of money. Moreover, they have to pay to the coachs, coreographers and the competitions where the take part. Apart from their homes, flies, hotels and so on. If Javier hadn't won three times the Europe Championships plus once the World Championships, he would be in the completely poverty!
To sum up, there are many others ice- skaters in the same situation than Javier Fernández and the Ice Federation has promissed them thier respectives work visas in the near future. I hope that.

Technique versus Artistic Skills

Hi everyone!!!

Last weekend took place the Cup of China, where participated our world championship Javier Fernandez. Boyang Jin, Chinese, also participated. He is 18 years old and, of course he has much potencial for jumping. In fact, he did two quads in his short program plus four quads in his long program (two of them were quad luzt, the most dificult one). In contrast, Javier Fernandez did only one quad in his short program and three in the long program.

Who of them won? Easy. I´m not going to be exhaustive, altohugh I would like to explain only one thing. Not only is the tecnique important on figure ice-sakating, but the artistic skills are also necessary. You can have a fantastic and refined technique (jumps, spins, secuency steps and so on) but if you don´t have a marvellous and completey riveting artistic skills (interpretation, choreography, skating skills and stuff like that) you cannot achieve a great mark.

To sum up, here you have the four programs and judge yourselves:

The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games

This film is based on Suzanne Collins’ novel, published in 2009 and set in North America having a box office success. Actually, that film (plus all the saga) received a lot of nominations, including  the Oscars’ awards, winning some of them. The main actress is Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss and Josh Hutcherson playing Peeta.
Some years after the dissapearance of the EEUU (as we know them today), there is a new state called Panem plus other 12 distrits. Every year one girl and one boy, whose ages range from 12 to 18, are elected by each distrit. The 24 travel to Panem where they have to fight to death whereas all the population watch their struggle live on T.V. Only one of the 24 can survive.
Broadly speaking, the characters are well developed. Jennifer Lawrence is pretty strong and believable. Josh Hutcherson has to be weak and dull sometimes for the story, although he is likeable. Not only is the acting natural but it is also powerful sometimes. The plot is thrilling and completely absorbing. Moreover,  the script is quite compelling, well-written and pretty imaginative. Futhermore, the relationship between all the elected and the reactions of the inhabitants of Panem is extremely thought- provoking. The special effects are staggering. The photography is absolutely incredible.
To sum up and from my point of view, it is a really good an memorable film. The type of film is not only for the youth and it is well worth seeing. I would throroughtly recommend it without any doubt.

Trip to Zanzibar

This is our resort in Zanzíbar, where we are going for Easter. It is called Meliá Zanzíbar, and it is on the main city of the island, which is Zanzíbar city. We are going to flight from Madrid to Tanzania, where we will change planes to finally get to Zanzíbar. The resort is a luxury resort, near the beach and it is all included. With regard to the activities, we can practise snorkelling, scooba-diving, parachuting and so on. Moreover, we are going to collect minerals, plants and, of course, spices from that place (Zanzíbar is a great importer of all kind of spices). Futhermore, we´ll visit Stone Town, which is plenty of different monuments and beautiful, incredible and stunning streets. In order to improve our English and learn another language, we are going to join to the resort activities and help the tourists what they need.

Difference between tourist and traveller

I think there is a little difference between a tourist and a traveller. A tourist only see and enjoy the more knowledged places of a country or a city. He or she only goes for a touristic places. In contrast, a traveller enjoys travelling wherever. Not only does he master the monuments or the stunning places of a country, but he or she also knows about other places which are lost and you have to looking for them. Both are different ways to travel.

Sara Hurtado´s Retirement

I´m still completely in shock by the Sara Hurtado´s retirement. This great dance skater, together with her parter, the fantastic Adrián Díaz, announced that yesterday and I cannot believe it. They are a stunnung, uplifting plus riveting Spanish dance pair. Ovbiously, this has been a hard decision for Sara and I have to say that, although I don´t understand anything, I support her and, of course Adrián too. Canadá

It is Canadá one of my favourite countries I´d like to visit. Not only is it a country with superb, riveting and uplifting landscapes, which are entirely out of the blue, but Canadá also has a lot of great, incredibly and superb cities like Montreal, Quebec, Toronto, Otawa and so on. Futhermore, I can improve my English visiting the English- speakers part. Taking all of this into consideration,  I think Canadá is a country which worth seeing.

The Spring

The Spring, by Sandro Boticelli

Today, I´m going to talk about The Spring. This painting was created by Boticelli and it´s loose based on a 15th century work and it´s his most famous painting.

When you see it the first time, it depicts as people are in a garden celebrating the spring´s arrival while are eating fruits and dancing. This painting is atmospheric, you can feel the romance if you take a quick look at it and, perhaps, the drama. Its story is this: Venus is on the centre with a pale face. All of her is on flat tones and seems pretty unhappy. Anyhow, she reflects the beauty, the nature and the culture in this image. In fact, for Sandro Boticelli she´s a lyric´s sing like a poem. On the left you can see Juliano de Medecis, who is dressed on Mercurio and is taking an orange from one of the trees. Moreover, you can easily imagine that he will give the fruit to one of the 3 gracias, who are in a ring hand by hand. On the centre, in addition to Venus, Cupido appears and love with him. On the right you can see Cefiro who is chasing one girl whereas Flora, absolutely close of them, spread on the grass a full carpet of flowers, plenty of brilliant colours. All the clothes seem to be ethereous, everybody seems to be naked with them.

Nobody knows completely well which are the intention of the painter. Futhermore, there are a lot of interpretations: From the Venus´allegory, the love between Juliano de medecis and Siminetta Cattaneo Vespucci ( Cupido aims to her. She died on 1476), to the months´representation: Cefiro would be February and Julio dressed on like Mercurio would be September.

Regarding to my interpretation, that painting is totally erotic and perhaps a little bit sad. When you listen the word "spring" you inmediately think about happy music (probably The Spring by Vivaldi), strolls by fields, birds singing and so on. In contrast, nobody here are laughing or talking happily. All of the characters are terribly serious and I fel the tension what they have. For me it´s a great, amazing and gripping image: you think in happy things if you see it fast. The reality, unfortunately, is another.

About me

My name is Esther and I am 35 years old. I was born in Plasencia (Cáceres) on the 7th of November, 1979. However, all my family and I moved to Motril when I was 4 years old. My parents are both retired and I have 2 siblings: Eduardo and Beatriz (she attended your lessons in 4th and 5th level some years ago). I’m a teacher of little children from 0 to 6 years old. Unfortunately, nowadays I’m unemployed but I’m looking around to give private lessons for children while I prepare my public exams. So, I’m studying English because I need it for the public exams I’ve mentioned before, that will give me more points, and of course the more I learn, the better prepared I’ll be to teach my future pupils. About my future plans well, I imagine myself working at a school at least, living in Granada with my boyfriend and having two or three children. Returning to English, the aspects I enjoy more are all of them, except the use of English. For me it is the most boring part. Regarding the rest, I like much more reading, writing (although I'm not really good at writing complain letters and report tasks), speaking when I’m able to communicate whatever and listening, why not? I love watching films and TV series on the Net in V.O. and I’m so proud of myself when I understand them. In contrast, I’ve never been in an English – speaking country. However, I totally have to go there. Not only do I practice the language, but I also want to visit all the places I can. Nowadays it’s impossible just because I’m completely short of money, I can’t afford it.

Now I have to speak about my hobbies and interests. It is figure ice – skating that I’m really keen on. Actually, I’m a freaky fan and I don’t miss any competition by TV or by laptop. Moreover, I have some friends who are important ice skaters and my friends and I have a group where we are the Pink Ladies. Of course, I have more hobbies like listening to music (the kind of music depends on my sense of humor. Broadly speaking, I love Tiziano Ferro, Maldita Nerea and groups of black metal type), reading books and watching movies and TV series. I prefer in both cases someting romantic, thrilling, gripping, hilarius or uplifting. For instance in the case of books, the Harry Potter’s saga (I’m a fanatic of it), Agata Cristie’s novels or The Doctor by Noah Gordon. In contrast, in the case of films, I like whatever except horror films (How Do You Train Your Dragon, Inside Out, Schindler’s List, The Miserables and so on) and prefer Medical series like U.R. or Grey’s Anatomy. But I’ve also seen Broadchurch, Breaking Bad and things like that. About my habilities I think I’m pretty sympathetic. I like listening to my relatives and friends and I try to help them. It is said I’m inteligent and understand things quickly. And, of course, I’m so good at looking after little children. I adore them, specially well educated children. On the other hand, I’m so nervous, pretty shy and sometimes entirely pesimistic. My favourite places are Granada (it’s my favourite city), Praga (absolutely marvellous and amazing) and London, why not? The people I like are: firstly, without any doubt, my boyfriend Miguel. Secondly, Tiziano Ferro for his songs and because he is so handsome. And thirdly all my group of Pink Ladies. Regarding the persons I most admire: Leonardo Da Vinci for his paintings and his inventions. J.K. Rowling for the great and magnificent saga she’s written for all the public. And finally Javier Fernández,  our Spanish ice skater who is World Championship and three times European Championship. That’s all, isn’t it?
